Puerto Rico is a village in the south of Gran Canaria and belongs to the municipality of Mogan. It has approx. 4.000 inhabitans. Located directly at the coast. It is about 72 km from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, about 47 km from the airport and 12 km from Maspalomas. Urbanization began in the 60s, taking the name of the developer, who decided to take the exceptional local microclimate conditions. This is considered among the best in the world for its stable temperature and humidity and constant protection against the typical winds of the island that provides the surrounding terrain. It is a popular area for British and Scandinavian tourists.
