Mogán is a municipility in the south of Gran Canaria. It has approx. 20.000 inhabitans. It is located at the coast. In Mogán town living only 500 inhabitants and its located 8 km from the coast, about 90 km from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, about 55 km from the airport and 30 km from Maspalomas. To Mogán belongs the seaside village Puerto de Mogán, it has one of the most beautiful areas of the island, which is next to the yacht harbour and beach. Formerly it was only accessible by boat. Although today there is a coastal road, they maintaining the boat connections to Puerto Rico and Arguineguin. In the year 2012 will end the section of motorway between Tauro and Puerto de Mogan, therefore there will be have a continuous connection by motorway to the north of Gran Canaria.
The municipility is a tourist area. Along the coast were built numerous estates, apartment complexes and hotels. In Tauro you can find the "Anfi Tauro Golf" with 18 holes. To the municipility belongs many small towns. Here we mention only who ere at the coast, which are: Aguineguín, Patalavaca, La Verga, Puerto Rico, Tauro, Playa de Cura, Taurito und Puerto de Mogán, all with own beach. The area enjoys one of the best and healthiest microclimates, recommended by international doctors for a variety of health problems.
On the 13th June and the first Sunday in August they celebrate the patron saint of the municipality, the "San Antonio de Padua", El Chico (the little) and El Grande (thr big). In July, they celebrate the "Fiestas del Carmen" in Arguineguin and Puerto de Mogan.
Good infrastructure. Lot of tourism.
