Gran Canaria is a Spanish island, and by its geographical situation on the southern coast of Morocco, the leading European destination for gays, in the winter months. The climate is subtropical and the temperatures are pleasant 22 º C in the winter months.

Although the island offers many different attractions, the most important are the sun, the white beaches and nightlife. Spend Christmas or New Year's Eve on the beach, it's an amazing experience.

The island's capital, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. It is a modern and cosmopolitan city and very gay friendly. The old town is situated on the coast near the marina and has its own flair.

The centrum for tourists and gays is, however, in the south of the island, in Maspalomas, with his tourist and residential areas.

One of the tourist zones is Playa del Ingles with the largest entertainment center the Yumbo, which is designed primarily for the gay and lesbian audience. Even outside the Yumbo establish more and more points of contact such as bars and restaurants which are gay friendly.

Why come?

The climate and the Gay superlatives is a unique combination in Europe, compared with the great meccas, like South Beach, Key West or Palm Springs in the U.S.A. In addition Gays are welcome and secure. All things of everyday life are easily accessible and the island offers great variety. The cost for a stay on Gran Canaria are comparable with the mainland. A big plus for the island is certainly the famous beach and the dunes of Maspalomas, a paradise for naturalists, Gays, and all the bathing lover.

Why not?

Maspalomas is not a desirable if you are looking for museums, historics and a varied cultural program. You can find this in the north of the island.

Witch time?

The stable climate extends over the entire year. The high season is from September to January, Eastern and especially during the Pride in April and May.
