Gáldar is a municipility in the north of Gran Canaria. It has approx. 24.000 inhabitans. Located about 3 km from the coast. It is about 25 km from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, about 45 km from the airport and 80 km from Maspalomas. Gáldar, was the centre of one of the former kingdoms of the island, the "Guanartematos", has part of its most distant past on display in the "Archaeological Park of la Cueva Pintada", in the centre of the city. The principal event in the year is "Santiago Apóstol" in honour of its patron saint at 25 of Juli. Beaches or possibilities to swim within 3 km are:  La Redonda, El Agujero, Boca Barranco, Dos Roques, Furnia, Punta del Clavo, Caleta de Abajo.
